summary In the knowledge of previous discussions and academic experiences with the uses of digital tools in design process, some data has been collected among teachers and students to determine: .The nowadays role of digital graphic procedures in design for architectural works.. The study has been performed through exploratory research using: interviews, questionnaires and data analysis. The results shows the advantages and disadvantages of this type of design as well as allowed to come to conclusions and recommendations about pedagogical aspects in the teaching of this subject at this educational level.

summary This is a qualitative research about the “educative training process” of Digital Graphic students, in the Architectural Department of Nordeste University- Argentina. The specific aim is “to know in depth the elements that influence in the educative training process in digital graphics”, to guide the propose of new teaching strategies to make better the teaching- learning process. The studied universe includes two architecture -students groups that are coursing first and second year of the career, since 2004. The first analysis categories, allow us to find out the meaning that pupils give to the facts, to build the training process dialectic. [Full paper in Spanish]

summary The present work explains the preliminary results of the Research project that the authors are working on to know the way in which the architecture students of the UNNE represent the architectural object with analogues and digital methods. It wants to express the impact of the digital world over the representations through cross sections in five moments of their formation (beginner’s level, first, second, fourth and sixth years) in the school calendars 2013 to 2016. This qualitative research, descriptive and explanatory, expands in the virtual workshop, an innovative and unique experience of a collaborative workshop between the subjects of Architecture IV of different Universities.

summary The act of design using the graphic language is esential to the organization and determination of the process. Introducing digital tools modifies the design project research. Its application faces the traditional experience and encourages different demands conceptually and operatively. We wonder if the use of digital media, from the very beginning, is possible or pupils must have trainning in the use of conventional graphic in order to be meaningfull. Our proposition is to include digital technology from the beginnitng of the teaching process, in order to explore the potencial of each mode and promoving to learn the normative background.

summary A persistent challenge to the more widespread use of shape grammars in architectural research is the creation of rules and rule sets for application in design contexts, while leaving space for design creativity despite the limitations of a rule-based system. A hybrid of associative and rule-based approaches may alleviate this. We present one such development, a Grasshopper shape grammar plug-in that embeds a rule-based approach within a parametric modelling environment. It supports shape emergence, visual enumeration of rule application results, and the parametric definition of shapes and shape rules even when selecting a non-parametric rule matching mechanism. Grasshopper's ability to handle geometries and text together allows for external descriptions and labels as attributes to points, enabling definition and application of compound, geometric and description rules. Well-known examples from shape grammar literature are implemented using the plug-in, with a focus on rule definition and application in the context of interaction between the parametric modelling environment and the rule-based interpreter, and simultaneous use of geometry, descriptions, and descriptions as attributes in rules.

summary In design courses in Argentina, “enchinchada” (“thumbtacking”) is the name given to the educational tool used for assessment of students’ work. Every student’s assignment is pinned around the classroom for students to enable, students and teachers to join into a formative dialogue thought observation and reflexion. This work presents the potential of IT in relation to the “enchinchada”. It outlines a new use of a digital wall, and recovers and enriches this practice using a free cloud app, Popplet. The experience was carried out at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 2013 with students of fashion design and textile design.
