title Sentimentality and the Digital Expanse
source SIGraDi 2016 [Proceedings of the 20th Conference of the Iberoamerican Society of Digital Graphics - ISBN: 978-956-7051-86-1] Argentina, Buenos Aires 9 - 11 November 2016, pp.668-676
summary This paper explores the use of atmosphere within a digital space to evoke complex emotional response from virtual inhabitants of the space. Within architectural representation a shift to architectural visualisations in digital mediums have lost the prominence of the sensual communication of atmosphere and emotion in the abstract component of space. Sentimentality and the Digital Expanse constructs a methodology to reintroduce this sensuality into digital space, that draws from knowledge of both the unfamiliar atmosphere and the technical Presence to allow an iterative articulation of objective atmospheric design within digital space.

title A Survey of Graphics Standards and Their Role in Information Interchange
source IEEE Computer. October, 1985. vol. 18: pp. 63-75 : ill. ; tables. includes bibliography
summary The survey describes each graphic standard and explains the interrelationships among the standards. The role and commercial impact of PCs serving as workstations in a distributed, network, multimedia environment is emphasized. It is shown that current graphics standardization activity focused on three principal areas: the application interface, the device interface, and picture exchange. The operator interface and hardware interfaces will be expected to be the subjects for standardization in the future. In addition, picture exchange will be replaced by information exchange, where information includes text, image, and voice components merged with graphics to create an integrated whole

source SIGraDi 2003 - [Proceedings of the 7th Iberoamerican Congress of Digital Graphics] Rosario Argentina 5-7 november 2003
summary Information Technologies are part of our daily lives - use of terminologies, interphases, interactions, etc -. By the time a student goes into university has a potential, intuitive, dispersed and none valued knowledge on the matter. Using this as a starting point, the experience related below has an equipment of first year students"of" Industrial Design as protagonists, gathered in order to learn 3D modeling, simultaneously to the implementation of project methodologies and techniques of creativity for the development of concepts and ideas.

title Estilo de herramientas didácticas que favorecen la creatividad. Tema: Nuevas metodologías de aprendizaje
source SIGraDi 2014 [Proceedings of the 18th Conference of the Iberoamerican Society of Digital Graphics - ISBN: 978-9974-99-655-7] Uruguay - Montevideo 12 - 14 November 2014, pp. 245-249
summary Creativity is an important factor for innovators. According to Eguchi and Pinheiro (2008) the basis of design is innovation because of the use creative methodology. It’s important to remember that the word “project” comes from the Latin “proyectus”, meaning “a forward throwing action”. According to Ramos (2006), “educating for creativity is essential.” Beetlestone (2000), De Bono (1993), Munari (1997) and Pawlak (2000) argue that as we’re children we’re curious to find answers to everything, but that traditional schooling brakes the creativity. This research is a methodological test which aims to identify the reasons for student’s selection of specific creative tools used in university projects.

title From Ramon Llull to Image Idea Generation
source International Conference on Generative Art
summary Our minds follow familiar well trodden paths, and we sometimes need mechanical help to find new, undiscovered thoughts and ideas. Ramon Llull was a Christian philosopher who used a mechanical way of investigating truth, a set of concentric wheels on which words were written. By rotating the wheels, the words were combined in unexpected ways. A similar technique has been (re-)invented, randomised and changed by Edward de Bono and is called Lateral Thinking. Can we apply this technique to image idea generation? This paper describes a first attempt at building an image idea generator for use by artists and non-artists alike, and sets out plans for a new a more powerful version. An image idea generator takes no (or very few) instructions from the user and creates a set of images from which the user chooses those he likes best. The purpose of an image idea generator is to easily create previously un-thought of images, to easily explore the 2D world of color and form.
