summary The didactic activity related to the teaching of Perspective has been revised considering the possibility offered by the computing tools. This review must evaluate the potentialities of concepts and procedures related to the traditional techniques as sources for architectural graphics expression, before suggesting its suppression. It is possible to improve the accuracy and quickness controlling the visualization parameters of three-dimensional models. On the other hand, it is necessary to explore the development of the ability to construct quick hand made perspectives (sketches). This work searches for the development of a structure to the teaching process, which emphasizes the potentiality of both ways, traditional and computerized. It explores the flexibility of teaching, from face to face to distance learning, and introduces an enlarged structure of knowledge able to support the traditional and also a computerized process of representation.

summary This work invests on delimitation of a Geometric Modeling study program directed to students at the initial stages of Architecture. It is considered that the studies promote a qualified control of the form based on recognition of parameters which define it, moreover it also allows the enlargement of the students geometric vocabulary, important to the architectural design activities. In this way, the program advances on the appropriation of new concepts which surround the investigations on architectural design processes, such as the concept of shape grammar. Observing analysis and architectural composition practices based on such concept, contents of geometric modeling which are already being used in the context of post-graduation are identified to be transposed to the graduation context, along with the initial teaching practices of architectural design. The results refer to making the didactic material available, these materials have the objective of building references for the development of design practice which explore the reflection about the processes of creation and composition of architectural form in their geometric aspects.

summary This paper describes the process of creating anamorphic projection using digital tools in order to apply this technique to full color images that can then be printed and applied onto a surface. The experiment was done as an installation in the main square of the city of Pelotas - RS, intended to explore the perception of three-dimensional illusion produced by anamorphosis and verify the reaction of the general public while they experience the unusual view of the historic building in front of them.

title Defining a process of design and learning of digital graphics by means of distance education

summary This paper describes and analyses the teaching/learning approach which progressively is being established in the context of the Digital Graphics Post-Graduation Course. The method used has, basically, generated educational situations able to increase the self-learning capacity of the students; develop skills for collaborative activities to build the knowledge and overtake the limits of time and space imposed by traditional educational systems. The theoretical references adopted to draw the didactic situations are explained, these situations include more and more moments of distance learning, synchronous or asynchronous, redefining the attitude of lecturers and students. This work points out the introduction of a tutor, an agent to promote interactions among student/lecturer/object of knowledge; and the investment on production of didactic material specific to digital graphics is emphasized between lecturers and students, exploring collaborative activities to the distance learning modality. summary This paper describes the development of actions, denominated motivational scenarios, which sought to motivate behavior change in favor of the requalification of the urban space in a playful manner; the actions were directed to areas of social housing and the appreciation of architectural heritage. summary The challenges on the ways of producing and teaching architecture, in the face of new digital technologies, led us to develop guidelines for updating didactic strategies in the area of teaching geometry and graphic representation in architecture courses. In order to do so, it is proposed to use the SWOT matrix as a way to cross-check what is being discussed. To identify the factors of the matrix, in the research environment we identify Opportunities and Threats and, using as examples the works of the Sagrada Familia Temple and the Guggenheim Museum, we identify Strenghts and Weaknesses.

summary This work looks to contribute to the structuring of educational speeches able to promote the use of the virtual space like laboratory for the simulation of the phenomenon of interaction between light and matter in different levels of similarity with the reality. The computer resources available for that present a technological specific language, mixing proceedings heuristics and physical. This demands of the students a detailed control of parameters, which need to be recognized and associated to the scientific knowledge. You being adopted “concept maps”, like strategy of attendance of processes of teaching / apprenticeship, these associations are set out, supplying sufficient elements to prepare, to revise and to enlarge the speeches open to question.

summary This paper reports the experience of a public university digital manufacturing laboratory in producing tactile models to support a tourist route in a historic center. The report includes the reflection on the social and formative, cultural and professional meaning attributed to this production. For this, it uses the theory of the climbing of abstraction, by Vilém Flusser, problematizing the dimensional logic of the media used. This is the representation of the architectural set of the surroundings of a square. Architecture students were involved in the production of the models which were validated by visually impaired individuals.

title Tactile narratives about an architecture’s ornaments

summary This study experiments a process of production of tactile representations of architectural elements of a nineteenth century mansion, house to a university museum: Museu do Doce, Pelotas, RS. The Museum uses the concept of Universal Design to guide its direct and/or mediated communication solutions. The house is distinguished by ceilings of ornamental stuccoes, evidently perceived only by the sense of sight. To describe them, a set of representations is being produced, using 3D scanning and digital fabrication technologies, using formal decomposition, and different scales, to construct a narrative to be understood by touching.

summary Didactic material in digital format is being produced in different contexts focused on similar themes. The efforts of such production are not being optimized. This paper describes the structuring process of a system of collaborative production of didactic material aimed at broadening geometric vocabulary and repertory in architecture. Established material regarding this theme is analyzed through the concept of learning objects. Efforts concentrate on the establishment of a taxonomy to characterize these objects, seeking to make the search and selective recovery of these objects easier. An environment has been made available for sharing, discussion and validation of this material, outlining a methodology for the establishment of the proposed system.

summary Knowledge of geometric drawing, hitherto considered previous in the training context in architecture, has little emphasis in the school curriculum. In the context this work, were recognized approaches such as shape grammar, which explain design practices, unveiling relationships of the geometric form. It was also identified practices of the Gestalt, established under the modern architecture, which sought to stimulate the student to have insights to think about geometric structures implicit in the form. From these references and digital tools, it is demonstrated the types of concepts and some of the exercises that are being used for the configuration of an learning for the insight.

summary This paper describes the strategies which are being used to make a digital collection available, regarding the architectural heritage of the city of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. Pelotas preserves architectural examples built between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 20th century. These examples include representatives of the Luso-Brazilian architecture, eclectic, transitional eclectic and pre-modern architecture. The representation of these examples has documented and valued such heritage, subsidizing the cultural memory of the city. The production system is a supportive process of teaching, research and extension, committed to the various possibilities for applying these representations and the evolution of the technological resources available.

summary This paper presents a study of integrating assistive resources for the field of observation and experimentation of a photographic exhibition in order to receive the visually impaired. The exhibition applied the concept of Universal Design as the axis of a transverse and interdisciplinary methodology in order to propose communication and mediation welcoming solutions and research likely to qualify inclusive museological spaces. This study evaluates the potential integration of accessibility features to create an enabling environment of access to knowledge and culture. The resources were developed in four projects: expography; production of three- dimensional tactile models and schemes; accessible mediation and audio description.

summary This study describes a didactic method for the introduction of parametric design in graphic and digital geometry courses in architectural training. It started with the recognition of the concept of parametric design and the investment in the appropriation of Grasshopper associated with Rhinoceros. Paper folding exercises were configured both physically and in the digital space. Through an interactive dynamic between traditional processes, by hand and digital, and parametric design, a learning path was defined in a playful manner which highlights the differences between methods of representation and its implications for the design action starting from a first semester of training.

summary For the initial stages of architectural training one of the strategies traditionally used is to study design cases. This exercise can help in the comprehension of implicit geometries and design processes. The use of the golden ratio, for example, is recurrent in the history of architecture. However, adequate instruments are necessary for this kind of statement. This paper demonstrates the use of Augmented Reality with this goal: virtual elements are viewed overlaying the architecture or its representation, configuring a “digital proportion measurer”. The comprehension of known architectural practices assists in structuring methods and constructing repertoires for architectural design.

summary The T-GAME L3 project intends to establish the possibility of cooperation within institutions focusing activities in the realm of continuous development in the area of Digital Graphics by making use: of new technologies, methods and learning processes related to half-time distance and total distance teaching. The programs offered will be customized to each particular country and academic environment by sharing the digital teaching resources of the network members. This will allow an academic program of formative continuity. Based on the seminar’s subject, our visualization sense will be a basic component for a massive training of an educational program, proposing a model of institutional outreach university service. summary The use of digital media for representation is already strongly established among architects and students of architecture, however, despite the rapid technological developments and growing research, the use of advanced digital technology to generate and manipulate complex forms is still far less present in the learning and teaching of architectural design. This study presents a didactical approach for introducing generative design as a method for form exploration through parametric geometric representation. The activity presented in this paper was exercised with second and fifth semester students, working with form generation and variation using Grasshopper as a parametric design tool.
