summary This paper presents the development of a responsive object that addresses issues concerning to digital manufacturing processes as dynamic geometric modelling, where you can check formal and functional aspects of the product; the use of mechanisms for interaction between user and product, through sensors, controllers and their respective programming; and manufacturing using CAD / CAM resources. The aim is to develop a system for responsive objects development through digital manufacturing technologies in order to contribute for concepts implementation in new products design.

summary The following paper intends to demonstrate how parameterization can be a facilitator in the process of systematization and manufacturing of orthoses in a company focused on assistive technology products. By defining these parameters, it is expected to assist in the automation of the manufacturing process, as well as through a greater degree of personalization to provide a better user experience in the use of these devices, resulting in a better development of the tasks in a daily basis. The process for the development of an orthosis is presented, as well as possibilities for validation and further development.

summary This paper is the result of a pedagogic proposal applied to undergraduate students of architecture in order to present new digital design tools and methods. This study aims to connect procedural contents to different design strategies enrolled by students with special focus on complex geometries. The objective was to offer the necessary assistance to an appropriated design development, by reducing the habitual mishaps related to the lack of technical skills with digital tools for both the design reasoning and the subsequent graphic representation of proposals. As an answer, a new design approach called A-BIM (Algorithmic-based Building Information Modeling) was introduced to students, which integrates BIM platforms with algorithmic modelling software allowing, in this way, some formal flexibility allied to an adequate graphic documentation.

summary This paper is part of the MA research about the creation of a Cultural Itinerary of Museums in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The Cultural Itinerary is going to be available in the virtual platform of Iberê Camargo Museum, and it is presented in this case study. The relevance of this study is the appreciation of the memory of these museums, which is what makes the society preserve them. The choice of the virtual media is because of the ease in access and dissemination of museums for people visiting the city.

summary This paper is a final work for Graphic Control of Solar Light & Natural Lighting Course, which belong to the Doctorate Program Curricullum of Achitectonic Representation of the Escuela Superior de Arquitectura, Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, in Barcelona, Spain. The main idea of this work was to find and to describe the advantages of informatics and technology tools used for the study of the solar obstructions. The traditional technique adopted in our graduate course was static and repetitive. What would had to be a system of analysis of natural light behaviour and the influence produced by the buildings around, as a constructed medium, was presented as a drawing exercise in spherical perspective. Our work was well received not only because we obtained a complete luminic analysis, correct, expressive and realistic, but too, as a research in which clearly appears the multiple tools offered by technology to realize such a study.

summary This work describes a design methodology to minimize direct solar incidence in facades, exploring the shape of brise-soleil. The methodology correlates parametric design and evolutionary algorithm, through the integration of computational tools. At first, are established shade’s shape variable and restrictions, through the Rhinoceros software and Grasshopper plug-in. Subsequently, the shape is studied to minimize the sunlight incidence through the genetic platform ‘Galapagos’ and the simulation software ‘Ecotect’. The results indicate the relevance between the parametric design and the evolutionary algorithms during the project process, reducing the time in researching for optimized solutions.
