title Mapeo digital a través de la diversificación de peque?os recursos visuales para potenciar la creatividad y la autonomía de los estudiantes de primer a?o en el taller de proyecto [Experiential mapping through simple digital resources to boost creativity and empower freshmen students in the design workshop]
source SIGraDi 2016 [Proceedings of the 20th Conference of the Iberoamerican Society of Digital Graphics - ISBN: 978-956-7051-86-1] Argentina, Buenos Aires 9 - 11 November 2016, pp. 7-13
summary This paper expounds the teaching strategies used to introduce architecture students in the craft of design in the course Taller de Proyecto 1. These strategies are based on experiential mappings constructed from different digital resources allowing constantly confront design with real life, in order to maintain, throughout the process, a sensitive and precise relationship between reality and experience. It concludes that these methodologies strengthen the autonomy of students, developing a valuable reconnection with the way they look and transform the world, validating the premise that the act of design is an innate human act and not necessarily an erudite one.

title Un ambiente de telecolaboración para el análisis de proyectos en arquitectura [Tellecollaboration environment for the analysis or architectural projects]
source SIGraDi 2010_Proceedings of the 14th Congress of the Iberoamerican Society of Digital Graphics, pp. Bogotá, Colombia, November 17-19, 2010, pp. 276-280
summary This article presents a framework based on tele - collaboration (AccessGrid) to assist in project review tasks based on 2D images as project supports. The focus of the proposed environment is: the participation of all actors, the concept of “annotations” made by participants in a project, proposal comparisons (with their respective “annotations”) and the recording of these sessions for subsequent examination and analysis. Both online and in - room tests of this environment have been performed. This allows us to evaluate the benefits offered by both in terms of the attention and participation of assistants in the revision of the project, and illustrates the value of recording the “memory” from the sessions as material that may be used in the analysis of these important exercises.

summary This paper presents a digital fabrication process for concrete which may be deployed for surface texturing, volumetric modification of material properties and 2D and 3D forming. We process concrete in its slurry state by locally injecting chemicals in solution which cause vigorous effervescent reaction to take place. By precise and controlled dispensing, using computer software and robotic hardware developed, we produce local differentiation in the finally set concrete artefacts. Our work contributes to additive and subtractive 3D manufacturing as well as functionally graded materials fabrication.

source SIGraDi 2007 - [Proceedings of the 11th Iberoamerican Congress of Digital Graphics] México D.F. - México 23-25 October 2007, pp. 135-140
summary Through the creation of an inter-text of different discursive levels, although for “natives as for digital immigrants”, it has developed a teaching experience in three Latin American scenarios (Chile, Argentina, Brasil), through two pedagogical modalities: international videoconferences and in person practical workshops. The videoconferences facilitated the general theoretical discussion, stating multiples contents, anticipating and framing the later activity of the in person workshop, and returning in discussions and critical insights at the end of each workshop. In the in person workshops, new design strategies of generation of spaces and surfaces were entered upon, through analog-digital resources of ideation and representation.

source Sousa, JP, Xavier, JP and Castro Henriques, G (eds.), Architecture in the Age of the 4th Industrial Revolution - Proceedings of the 37th eCAADe and 23rd SIGraDi Conference - Volume 2, University of Porto, Porto, Portugal, 11-13 September 2019, pp. 145-152
summary The notion of design spaces (DS) can be understood as the potential of a parametric model, it is basically the number of possible combinations for its input parameters. When combining tools that produce these alternatives automatically with different simulation softwares, the concept of parametric analysis (PA) emerges. This implies a simultaneous evaluation of the alternatives as they are constructed by the parametric model, producing large amounts of information. This article describes a sectional approach to the management of this information and a visualization technique to represent it looking for correlations between the input parameters and their performance. Correlations that are fundamental to making decisions with confidence when design problems challenge traditional methods of decision-making based on heuristics and design expertise.

summary This paper aims to demonstrate the advantages of working with cutting- edge technologies, such hypermedia, in the teaching of architecture in large universities. The topic hereby dealt with regarding cognitive construction is about stylistic vanguards, specifically Deconstruction and Minimalism, which are two very well-known trends of the last years. The quality leap from analogical towards digital,as well as the construction of knowledge in a path of increasing abstraction. The fact that the student-hypermedia interaction is individual allows the former work in accordance with his or her own personal requirements, in order to successfully achieve goals in didactics This paper includes a framework, an account of analogical teaching experience oriented towards the new technologies, and the on stylistic vanguards.

source SIGraDi 2005 - [Proceedings of the 9th Iberoamerican Congress of Digital Graphics] Lima - Peru 21-24 november 2005, vol. 1, pp. 240-244
summary The aim of this work is to present some reflexions raised when designing teaching materials in hypermedia formats for architecture. We plan to work with the essential notions for design, creation and use of hypermedia technology in either traditional and/or distance learning. While doing this, we will go deep in the use of some tools of hypermedia design. We will go from formal models such as abstraction, taking as an example the use of video games, to interface elements. We will present different concepts that should be applied in the design of hypermedia; they help in assisting the user to discover and to increase his knowledge. We intend to promote an effective user. We aim to assess design emphasizing the ludic experience, according to what exists in the market and to the two works on hypermedia design from the author."
