summary This paper analyzes the theory of polycubes from the basic unit the cube, until the formation of more complex shapes, understanding the assembly and operation of polycube parts, is part of the use of theory in architectural projects, determining the cubic module (dimensions) and its combination aspect. Relates modulation with numerical series for the distribution and creation of environments. In the end establishes two design methodologies based on the theory, that it will work in a ludic way and culminate in housing prototypes.

summary The purpose of this paper is to present the results of research conducted at the ICESI University in Colombia, which was aimed at designing a method of collaborative interaction between individuals in public spaces using mobile devices to express themselves, encounter others, and reflect on public spaces. The result is the design of a prototype—an interactive installation that projects the information sent from cell phones via Bluetooth and text messaging. This content can be transformed by users through a distance sensor.

summary The proposed learning experience was intended to mean the creative act and establish a symbiotic perceptual in producing models of representation analogical, digital and digital-analogical manufacturing, this experience was made in the frame of Project DCI-ALA/19.09.01/10/21526/245-654/ALFA GAVIOTA ALFA III (2010) 149 and two developments of thesis. The experimentation was placed in a conceptual and operational level, with a search-oriented perceptual recognition of the limits of the figure. summary New requirements from the "Visual Information Society" motivate the creation of strategies for the teaching of digital design as a professional skill. Here we describe a computer-mediated experience with a learning method addressing a strategy of digital visual codification in initial workshops of Graphic Design. The strategy is based on a “system of perceptual tools for digital visual codification”, categorized into semiotic foundations, which allow the student to address visual communication through digital design with normalized criteria and creative openness. This enables the student to develop competence in visual digital communication and self-assessment of both process and result.

summary The theory of knots is a branch of mathematics that is in charge of studying the topological behaviour of lineal entities configuring forms in three-dimensional space. Starting from their spatial character it is possible to establish correspondences with three-dimensional forms of architectural use, constituting a stimulative tool of creativity. The objectives of this work consist on analysing how to enlarge the possibilities of computers aided architectural design (CAAD) from the theory of knots, classifying forms of knots of architectural use and developing a design procedure of architectural shapes, emphasizing concepts of structure, path and form.

summary Modular Architecture refers to the design of any system composed of separated components that can be connected together preserving proportional and dimensional relationships. The beauty of modular architecture is that it is possible to replace or add any component (a module) without affecting the rest of the system. A polycube is a set of unit cubes joined in such a way that each face of the cube is either completely joined to another or completely free of any join. A polycube is a 3D generalization of polyominoes, which consist in a set of squared unit modules joined by their sides. This paper shows how, from the volumetric and modular character of polycubes, it is possible to set correspondences with 3D forms of architectural use, being a very powerful sustain in assisted design processes. The main purposes are:- to be used as creative triggers in the realization of architectural designs- to enlarge the possibilities of CAAD systems exploring modular complex groupings- to develop a simplified procedure of teaching-learning architectural forms.
