This article we address the general problem of drawing nicelooking undirected straightline graphs. Any proposed solution to this problem requires setting general criteria for the "quality" of the picture. Defining such criteria so that they apply to different types of graphs, but at the same time are combined into a meaningful cost function that can then be subjected to general optimization methods, was one of the main objectives of our work. Another was to introduce flexibility, so that the user may change the relative weights of the criteria to obtain varying solutions that reflect his or her preferences
