Notes on the Potential of Simulation for Architectural Conception
Silicon + Skin: Biological Processes and Computation, [Proceedings of the 28th Annual Conference of the Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture (ACADIA) / ISBN 978-0-9789463-4-0] Minneapolis 16-19 October 2008, 264-271
With the projects described in this paper, EZCT has demonstrated a reversal of the tradtional role of simulation in architectural conception. Traditionally the role of simulation has been to see whether a design complies to its aims. In the projects described in this paper simulation is at the heart of architectural conception itself. Optimization facilitates the role of simulation as a tool that can be applied towards design.
