We consider the problem of automating the recoloring of designs whose “originals” are defined using color lookup tables. Given a digital image , we assume for each pixel of there exists an integer index such that . If is a color lookup table of size , we say image is colored by if each pixel is assigned color . Given a map from to itself, we recolor by assigning to each pixel the color . We are able to evolve the recoloring maps by representing them as tuples. We automate their evolution by applying multiobjective optimization. Examples of recolorings of designs that were originally in color and originally in black and white are given. Keywords.
