source ENVISIONING ARCHITECTURE: IMAGE, PERCEPTION AND COMMUNICATION OF HERITAGE [ISBN 978-83-7283-681-6],Lodz University of Technology, 23-26 September 2015, pp.283-289
summary This contribution deals initially with the notion of a “virtual prototype” of existing or proposed built artefacts within the computer. It provides an account of how the information and communication technologies evolved. Early applications of the technology are illustrated through the multimedia work of the ABACUS group at the University of Strathclyde. Recent applications are illustrated through the laser-scanning work of the Digital Design Studio at the Glasgow School of Art. The contribution concludes by addressing the underlying issues of digital patrimony.
