summary Much contemporary architectural speculation is concerned with the exploration of 'free-form' composition, images located somewhere between the chimeric and the amorphous. While built manifestations are thin on the ground, the prevalence of 'formlessness' or 'inexactness' in competition entries and architecture schools may suggest a need for a critical response to develop at a similar rate as architectural software application.
