summary This article reflects on the use of information in the production of spatialities and is part of an ongoing research about Project Experiences in Contemporary Housing that analyzes the projects of the Dutch office MVRDV. The text presented here focuses on the mapping of information as design process, a methodology used by the office that positions its production between research and project investigation. Then, it presents the Silodam project, a case study to illustrate aspects of the analysis intended by the research.

summary In this paper a methodology will be presented to investigate and document the constructive characteristics of two raw earth houses: artifacts that belong to the vernacular architecture. The comprehension, analysis and documentation of these architectures presents several problems mainly linked to the impossibility of using a predefined method, because the difficulties relating to each artifact and its characteristics, to particular geographic, cultural and social situations, are unique. To understand and document the constructive features it was decided to realize a three-dimensional digital reconstruction of the two artifacts, using 3D modeling software. Subsequently several graphic works have been elaborated (technological breakdown, sheets with detailed information about the materials, used constructive techniques, etc), useful in managing a recovery or maintenance project.

summary This article is about hybrid models, as a kind of three-dimensional representation emerged from of the possibilities of combining traditional techniques with digital technologies. The purpose is to reflect on the possibilities of production and applications of these types of hybrid models, highlighting them as recurring elements of design practice after the rise of new technologies of information and communication, and prototyping and digital manufacturing. By adopting the model as an object of research, we propose to expand the field of reflection on the incorporation of several digital technologies in the design process, specifically aspects of three-dimensional and graphical representation.

summary The architectural documentation plays a key role in the preservation of built heritage, as both support decision making in intervention projects, restoration and rehabilitation, such as the actions of preventive conservation. Building Information Modeling seems to be the adequate environment to assemble huge amounts of data. The aim of this research is to develop the integration of quantitative data (smart objects, performance data) and qualitative (photographs and historical documents) in model-based information, such as BIM, to be used in surveying, planning and control of interventions in historic buildings.

summary This paper suggests a new and experimental way of visualizing music. This project turns linear information from piano sheets into a two-dimensional representation. Using a symbology created to translate music data to visual plastic elements, in a metaphorical way to link sound and image, the project aims to build a music map, that could be able to picture those music data in other visualizations. Besides, this code can be used in the other way around: to create piano sheets from ready images. So, those experiences resulted in virtual images, tridimensional sculptures and new ways of creating music.

summary This paper presents the current state of progress investigating the possibility of modelling traditional Chinese architecture using parametrics based on the two rule books. This builds on the work of producing systematic analysis on both rule books and contributing knowledge from extant buildings. The case study target is the floor plan described in Ying Zao Fa Shi. Discussion and future works are suggested at the end.
