summary	The standardization of housing disregards the different family typologies and their needs. In the case of social housing houses, families expand and renovate the units themselves. Such expansions without technical assistance can lead to many problems in the unit and neighbourhood. This study shows the development of a mass customization configurator for the design of expansions in social housing house units. Such a configurator is implemented as a co-design system, which allows the collaboration between professionals and non-professionals towards the design. For the system’s development, we start from previous studies that indicate functionality and best practices in user experience design. The system is still under development; thus, simulation is used to test each aspect implemented. Results show how the system is being implemented, the results from simulations, the difficulties faced and how they are being overcome.
