title CONSTRUÇÃO DE VOCABULÁRIO E REPERTÓRIO GEOMÉTRICO PARA O PROJETO DE ARQUITETURA. CONSTRUCTION OF GEOMETRIC VOCABULARY AND REPERTOIRE FOR THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN.
source XIX SIMPÓSIO NACIONAL DE GEOMETRIA DESCRITIVA E DESENHO TÉCNICO E VIII CONFERENCE ON GRAPHICS ENGINEERING FOR ARTS AND DESIGN - LINGUAGENS E ESTRATÉGIAS DA EXPRESSÃO GRÁFICA: COMUNICAÇÃO E CONHECIMENTO.
summary Departing from a case analysis extracted from the context of didactic practices directed to the initial stages of Architectural Project learning, the necessity of limiting a conceptual net which expresses an updated geometric knowledge is assumed in order to sustain the characterization activity of the architectonic shape. For the case which was analyzed one identifies, through the light of traditional project approaches and from those originated from practices of digital graphic representations and shape grammars, a set of concepts and procedures that allows to explicit a knowledge structure considered able to support and strengthen the activity in question. Such structure is represented through conceptual maps that allow observing, visually, the amplification of concepts which in this study are identified with the geometric vocabulary and repertoire. It faces the necessity of recognizing a terminology to explicit such elements and, thus, experimenting the usage of established taxonomy in the context of architecture. In the present study, a metacognitive approach is added, associating practices of Geometric Modeling and Shape Grammars to the mechanisms of deductive and inductive metacognition, respectively. This perspective of analysis is proposed to contribute for the disciplinary integration: project and representation centered on the construction of a geometric vocabulary and repertoire to architecture.

title Geometria Descritiva e Ambiente CAD - Reposicionamento e Contextualização de Seu Escopo e Ensino [Descriptive Geometry and the CAD Environment - Repositioning and Contextualization of its Scope and Teaching]
source SIGraDi 2012 [Proceedings of the 16th Iberoamerican Congress of Digital Graphics] Brasil - Fortaleza 13-16 November 2012, pp. 259-262
summary The aim of this paper is to analyze the role of Descriptive Geometry as an auxiliary tool in the process of the generation, manipulation and representation of form, as well as to examine the reformulation of its scope, the validity of its use and the adaptation of the manner in which it is taught, in the light of current demands, given that, nowadays, the process of dealing with form seems always to involve the intermediation of CAD software.

title UMA NOVA METODOLOGIA DE APOIO À VISUALIZAÇÃO NO ENSINO DE DESENHO TÉCNICO E GEOMETRIA DESCRITIVA (A New Methodology of Support for Visualization in Technical Graphics and Descriptive Geometry)
source SIGraDi biobio2001 - [Proceedings of the 5th Iberoamerican Congress of Digital Graphics / ISBN 956-7813-12-4] Concepcion (Chile) 21-23 november 2001, pp. 201-203
summary This work presents an experiment on the use of new computer graphics, virtual reality and Internet to help students of Technical Drawing and Descriptive Geometry courses at the University of Brasilia, Brazil. After some trials of teaching with the help of CAD and 3D modeling software, when developed an animated and interactive web-site. The idea behind the creation of the site was to avoid the book metaphor, i.e., to put figures and text for the student to read, but take advantage of the animation and interaction resources of current computers. It is not a distance course, but only a site to complement classes and help visualization. The site can be seen at www.desenho.hpg.com.br.

title A modelagem paramétrica e o ensino de geometria descritiva – as superfícies de Felix Candela [Parametric modeling and descriptive geometry education in architecture - Felix Candela’s surfaces]
source SIGraDi 2012 [Proceedings of the 16th Iberoamerican Congress of Digital Graphics] Brasil - Fortaleza 13-16 November 2012, pp. 216-218
summary This paper aims to discuss the possible contributions that parametric modeling environments can bring to descriptive geometry teaching process in architecture courses. The paper shows a method where models developed in Grasshopper are used to illustrate how is possible to combine computing concepts, shape generation and design references during descriptive geometry classes. In this work is used as design precedent, solutions created by the Mexican architect and mathematician Felix Candela. His concrete shells developed from hyperbolic paraboloids are recognized as important references in architecture. As was said, during the research was developed a set of models in Grasshopper. This models were created in a way to show to the students the concepts required to build an hyperbolic paraboloid.
