title Roteiro e Interface: Elementos Fundamentais para a Representação das Cidades Virtuais - (Story-board and Interface: Fundamental Elements for the Virtual Cities Representaion)
source SIGraDi’2000 - Construindo (n)o espacio digital (constructing the digital Space) [4th SIGRADI Conference Proceedings / ISBN 85-88027-02-X] Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) 25-28 september 2000, pp. 322-324
summary This paper derives from the project "A Evolucao do Sistemas simbólicos da Cidade Latino-Americana" by the team at the Laboratório de Analises Graficas e Representaçio Digital, PROURB (Programa de Pósgraduacio em Urbanismo) at the Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. In a period of five years the CD-ROMs Havana Colonial, Rio de Janeiro Colonial and the websites Um Palacio na Cidade and Favela-Bairro were produced. Based on that experience this paper intends to demonstrate that there was a conceptual and technological evolution related to representation and through the analysis of a few of the screens of the above mentioned works we will discuss the importance of integrating navigation script and creation of the interfaces through which the user accesses the product.

title RE-CONHECENDO O TERRITÓRIO - COLETA E MAPEAMENTO DE ELEMENTOS SÓCIO-ESPACIAIS (Recognition of Territory - Survey and Maping of Social and Space Elements)
source SIGraDi biobio2001 - [Proceedings of the 5th Iberoamerican Congress of Digital Graphics / ISBN 956-7813-12-4] Concepcion (Chile) 21-23 november 2001, pp. 304-306
summary This paper examines the application of graphic technologies in spatial analysis and planning. Firstly it describes the method for organizing, selecting and analysing spatial resources. Secondly, it deals with registration techniques concerning the information collected. Emphasis is given to digital maps linking to elements selected through community based information. The possibility of instantaneous scale migration -from regional spaces to local particularities- provides a deeper knowledge of the spatial configuration. Finally, it argues that this technique, may provide: a comprehensive knowledge of reality; the public diffusion of socio-spatial information; a regional analysis based on the aggregation of local visions.

title Enseñando diseño generativo: una experiencia didáctica [Teaching Generative Design: a Learning Experience]"
source SIGraDi 2009 - Proceedings of the 13th Congress of the Iberoamerican Society of Digital Graphics, Sao Paulo, Brazil, November 16-18, 2009

title Distribución Espacial de Elementos Arquitectónicos (Space Distribution of Architectural Elements)
source III Congreso Iberoamericano de Grafico Digital [SIGRADI Conference Proceedings] Montevideo (Uruguay) September 29th - October 1st 1999, pp. 130-133
summary This paper treats of the management of the position of objects on the plane. At first sight problems related with planning objects on the plane appear to be quite trivial. Nevertheless a system able to manage the permutation of objects the one with respect to the others becomes a complex one when all the possible variations are taken into account. The operations to be performed include topological variations in a combinatorial process. Although the results of such a system could be of general design application in this paper only architectural problems are examined as examples. In the first part an outline of the system is presented. In the second part a computer program directed to produce graphical results is described together with some case studies.

This work has a didactic approach in teaching digital graphic representation for Architectural Design. Seeks to identify structures to know that support geometric concepts employed in works of contemporary architecture. Faced with technological advances and the recent insertion of parametric design in offices and schools of architecture, the study also aims to support the recognition techniques parametric modeling related to such concepts. How explicit methodology to know structures are adopted, taxonomies and ontologies, we consider the potential of these structures to explain the treaty knowledge and facilitate the association of educational materials on the topic in online systems, supporting learning processes of the agents involved (students and teachers).

summary This paper deals with geometric update strategies of cobogós, aiming to expand its energy efficiency based on material computation, a design approach that seeks to achieve greater architectural performance through the investigation of material properties, comprising four aspects that structure the paper: materiality, material structure, material performance and materialisation. Analysis in ceramic, the most common material in the manufacturing of cobogós, showed voronoi microstructure geometry in the material. Incorporating this logic to the development of a new geometry of cobogó results a slight increase of its thermal performance comparing with commercial cobogós.

source SIGraDi biobio2001 - [Proceedings of the 5th Iberoamerican Congress of Digital Graphics / ISBN 956-7813-12-4] Concepcion (Chile) 21-23 november 2001, pp. 139-141
summary In detail this paper evaluates the technological reality of the potential emergence of a 3D cyberspace. This paper assesses the technology from today’s VRML and Web3D tools to Virtual Reality over gigabits networks. The thesis of this paper is that the technology is very fragmented which will continue for many upcoming years. This evidence suggests that a more compelling vision for the future does not include an ubiquitous cyberspace but a more mixed reality. One that is concurrent: analog and digital. The conclusion of this paper is that this should have implications to how architects and designers should look at the digital phenomena and cyberspace. The digital space should not be viewed as a holistic space but more as part of a more imperfect transition between media and spaces.

summary Daylighting is an important part of designing sustainably. Daylighting is the use of natural light for primary interior illumination. This reduces our need for artificial light within the space, thus reducing internal heat gain and energy use. Direct sunlight, once it enters the building, is not only light but heat, and that additional heat will need to be taken into account in your energy analysis." While Autodesk Revit Architecture 2010 (ARA) itself cannot perform the actual analysis, there are some ways to do that. This papper focuses on the study of parametric modeling using a BIM tool for daylighting analysis. This paper presents the first part of the building method of LUME, a plug-in maked whit C# programming language in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and ARA Software Developer Kit (SDK) package. The script accepts as its input a standard three dimensional model of building opening and his position on space.
