summary
The paper introduces the need to include subjectivities in computer aided design systems. It commences with the differences between uncertainty, which has been used to model subjectivity, and imprecision. The former provides the basis of probability theory, whilst the latter the basis of fuzzy set theory. The thesis is that subjectivities introduce imprecision. It shows that subjectivities can be included in the description of the interactions between parts of the system. After presenting a brief introduction to fuzzy set theory the paper shows how a fuzzy CAD system can be built. An example is presented which demonstrates the approach
