summary |
Hutt (1966) demonstrated that familiarity, clarity, simplicity, and congruity are four stimulus characteristics eliciting play. When the participant reaches this status of an activity, in which is at this point that the playfulness element enters into play, and play is an important ingredient of the creative process. Correspondently, the characteristics in digital design studios which are rapid and broad exploration, systematic design process, the use of suitable digital media, and problem solving system reveal the analogical qualities with play. Since creativity is crucial in design processes, it is worthwhile to study relationships between play and digital design studio to discover possible means to benefit and facilitate digital design learning. |
