summary |
It is unclear to what extent attention affects perception rather than memory and decision. Is all of perception limited by attention, or is perception completely preattentive, and attention only affects memory and decision, or some compromise? The answer is in your definitions of these phenomena. Visual search task: display set size The display set size increases response time and/or response accuracy. This is a putative example of divided attention in the literature. The goal of this paper is to be more rigorous in studying this setsize phenomena, and try and decouple attention on perception Display set size: The total number of stimuli in an experiment. Relevant set size: Total number of 'cued' stimuli in an experiment. |
