summary |
An attempt is made to combine, in this written paper and in the multimedia presentation to the conference participants, an experience of the extra-ordinarily rich early Scottish settlements - of which little is known or understood throughout mainland Europe. The text of the paper is unillustrated and historical in character; the conference presentation will be in multimedia and will discuss how the technology has been used to show and explain the physical development of early communities in Scotland. This paper provides an historical context in which the paper on Skara Brae can be put in a context of settlement in some of the most northerly parts of our European continent. |
