summary |
This paper offers an analysis of current standardization efforts, including a classification of their approaches and an evaluation of their advantages and disadvantages with respect to different contexts. In focusing on the design context, a syntactic approach to standardization is recommended, and exemplified with a concept for representational flexibility termed sorts. |
