The article aims to report the experience of a little town, Cadoneghe (suburbs of Padua, northern Italy), in managing a Performance based Building Code. Although pressed by a high housing demand, Cadoneghe asked a design team and a research team for a help to define new basic rules and control tools, to avoid the most usual failures of Italian mass housing projects.
