This paper addresses the issue of information visualisation within the context of business process integration. Visual technologies offer appropriate information interfaces that facilitate the integration of mainstream construction applications. This paper assesses the needs of visualisation by the construction sector. It then describes recent developments in the areas of 4/5 dimensional modelling. This paper also investigates the state of maturity and uptake of these technologies by the industry. Following this, the results of various projects conducted by Salford within the area of information visualisation are presented. The paper concludes with a set of recommendations for the better use of visual technologies by the construction sector. |
