Compare with business database, the engineering database is much
more difficult to be designed and implemented. In this paper the issues on the
dynamic engineering component database and its management involved in
implementation of an AutoCAD based experimental CAD system, Computer
Aided Residential District Planning and Design System (CARPDS), are
discussed. The discussions focus on the organization, access control of the
database and the supporting environment.
