summary	Despite the current buzz surrounding the concept of integrative design, architects have always attempted to form greater wholes from disparate parts. It is nearly redundant to pair the words “integrative” and “design” together as what is design without integration? At the most fundamental level, good design must synthesize different and often conflicting parameters in order to achieve some higher level of performance. So why has the term “integrative design” emerged to described the contemporary design paradigm?
