summary |
Thermal Form, is architecture that does work. Or, it is the application of energy as information to architectural geometry, with the express purpose of using the resistance of structure against an opposing thermodynamic force, in order to manipulate and direct flows that exist in both the interior and along the exterior of a building. By examining the relationship between surface configuration, surface area and type of energy transfer occurring - with a focus on the mechanism of transfer - thermal form strategies can be used to further optimize existing building typologies and environmental control system strategies, or, perform a more radical detouring of the atmosphere of a building. |
