summary Significant challenges exist in achieving scalable processes for upcycling materials, including irregularity and deterioration, large tolerances, and difficulty in adapting these into precise and systematic digital fabrication workflows. Shingle Nest addresses these challenges by leveraging the high tolerance of traditional shingling to accommodate non-standard upcycled plate elements in making architectural and structural surfaces while developing a material rejuvenation process that converts irregularity into aesthetic value.
