This paper presents a technical performance evaluation of OpenSim as an alternative platform to Second Life, for virtual design studios. A number of issues that are critical for conducting virtual design studios were investigated through a series of tests and reflections from a Visual Training class. A performance test was also carried out in order to test server load against computer memory. These findings will provide valuable understanding to academics looking to use similar environments to Second Life for virtual design studio. |
