PERSONALITY CHARACTERISTICS AND AESTHETIC PREFERENCE FOR CHAOTIC CURVES |
source |
Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference of Mathematics & Design, Special Edition of the Journal of Mathematics & Design, Volume 4, No.1, pp. 283-296. |
summary |
The article uncovers relationship between aesthetic preference for mathematically generated fractal
curves with considerable aesthetic appeal—chaotic attractors—and personality of their appraisers. The examined
character dimensions are those described by the ‘Big Five’ factors of personality ; attractors are classified
according to the Lyapunov exponent and fractal dimension. An expansion of chaotic systems into psychodiagnostics
is later proposed. |
