As the architectural community becomes more and more “aware” of the ecological problems that our environment faces, digital tools gain a prominent position in the attempts to inform the design process with environmental sensibilities. However digital tools could provide more than the means to evaluate the energy efficiency of a design. The paper discusses the possible ‘digital-to-analogue’ design methodologies that are developed through the use of advanced computational techniques, alongside with material explorations, through example-projects designed and constructed by the students of the School of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki during an intensive, one week workshop. |
