summary
This paper describes experimental work carried out in a special architectural design studio. It runs methods that are different of the traditional teaching in the .normal. studios. The entire working time is separated in two characteristic periods: .Creative tasks. and .Design tasks.. The purpose is to clarify the design process assuming that generating ideas has quite different characteristics than leading them to the real world. Creative work means imagination whose limits are difficult to establish. In fact imagination hates imposed limits. Conversely the final task of design is to determine limits. These two opposed forces are conciliated in the design process. Ideas as well as physical objects need special means of representation. These are discussed in order to illustrate the trends underlying this particular design studio. (Architecture, design, teaching, digital representation)
