summary

This paper reports on the initial findings of an Undergraduate Research on Social Housing Program implemented in the city of Limeira, making use of a Building Information Modeling platform as a methodological procedure. The research was designed to enable students to better understand BIM in a hands-on, collaborative environment. A virtual information model of Housing Units and Housing Complex was created, and represents their real physical building components. The initial results portray BIM as especially useful to Civil Construction students, as fostering an integral environment where students are readily enabled to synthesize the knowledge of the art of construction.
