This paper reports an ongoing research on possible uses of digital fabrication in the production of social housing in Brazil, focusing on Minha Casa Minha Vida Program. We describe the typological characteristics of this program, presenting the definition of rapid prototyping and digital fabrication and its main methods. Then, we present the concept of generative architecture and shape grammar and indicate their possible use in the production of this type of housing in conjunction with digital fabrication. Finally, we highlight the importance of introducing these new technologies in the productive chain of Brazilian civil construction at a time when we need productivity gains to overcome the bottlenecks that today limits the development of the country |
