This paper describes the creation of a representative digital model of a rural house in the Western Algarve in Portugal called RHAM (Rural Habitat Algarve Model). In this research we collected information from bibliography sources and from field studies, and compiled a digital model according to the BIM (Building Information Modelling) method. The aim is to anticipate automatically and predictively with the digital model the traditional construction process of rammed earth walls and roof according to the local rules of artisanal construction. With the aid of computational methods, this research aims to contribute to preserve a Portuguese culture of sustainable construction, which is currently at risk of being lost. |
