summary |
Technological innovations such as 5G connectivity, the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and 'Big Data' have fostered the development of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects. It should be noted, however, that intelligence does not lie in the use of technological innovations, but in innovative urban planning practices that are developed in an environment of political intelligence. This finding is the result of a comparative study of urban transportation policies in the face of technological innovations between Belo Horizonte (Brazil), Zurich (Switzerland) and Wuhan (China). It uses 28 indicators divided into 6 Intelligence Areas based on smart cities rankings, empirical studies and related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The purpose of the analysis is to contribute to the improvement of urban transport services by guiding innovation and intelligence in urban transport policy. |
