summary |
This article explores the patriarchal and classical influences on architectural production, resulting in spaces that perpetuate social inequalities and exclude marginalized identities. Drawing from the experience of the Matrix Co-operative of female architects, which aimed at inclusivity and transformation of built environments for women, and the cyberfeminist group VNS Matrix, which harnessed digital technologies to create spaces of free expression, this study draws parallels between both movements. Despite being separated by decades and continents, both groups share a commitment to promoting social change and dismantling oppressions of gender, race, sexuality, and class in physical and virtual spaces. |
