summary |
The ongoing climate crisis requires adaptations in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry to reduce environmental impact. Retrofitting existing constructions, especially heritage structures, is crucial for adapting our built environment. Heritage studies must balance energy retrofits with conservation of their unique value and authenticity. Building Information Modelling (BIM) offers opportunities to optimize energy performance and heritage value. This study is a systematic review of the literature that considers energy performance in HBIM published 2019-2024. The results reveal trends in energy performance research for heritage conservation, emphasizing the need for supporting analyses and multidisciplinary research. This SLR identifies research avenues for integrating information models into sustainable heritage conservation, aiming to direct studies towards innovative strategies. |
